What do you define as “deep work”? How do I know if I’m working normally or in “deep work”?

Deep work to me means any form of productive work with high focus intensity, where there is no distractions and the objective result is either achieved or exceeded.

Where I intentionally focus on a task, tune out to disturbances and work through the task’s key priorities to complete. I set a goal each day looking at my to do list for what will be the focus though sometimes a more pressing issue may bump that down.

I’m a student and I evaluate my studying sessions based on how long I was concentrated. Even when I’m studying just for an hour, if in that hour I am able to avoid distractions and maintaining my focus I’ll consider it an hour of deep work

no distractions e.g) phone is off or on Do Not Disturb,working with a fixed and predetermined schedule and sticking to it with breaks in between of course.Trying to fully understand what youre working on instead of sliding and scanning through it to memorise it or get an idea

If you’re maintaining your focus on the task you’ve chosen, then you’re in “deep work.” You can’t “multitask” and work deeply at the same time. I think the makers of this app hope to help you focus and be less distracted.

When you are immersed in your deep work, you won’t notice what time is or what’s going on around you. You’ll just feel truly interested in your topic of study or activity.

Great question! And I have the same too! I think I’m in deep work when I am very consumed with the topic or subject that I do and than I don’t have sense of time or anything else in my life. It is like I’m in some movie.

Well, I’m curious too about that! I’m calling it deep work when I’m in my world so occupied with the thing I do that I don’t have a sense of time and loose all obligations from my mind. Than, when I come back to this world and remember everything first I feel little shock but good feeling of worthiness still stays so I can more clearly see what meters and what is not so important. For me there is also much anxiousness before I start doing something that I know will draw all my attention because I feel fear of missing something important in “normal” life.
