When flossing, are you supposed to do a up and down motion, or in and out motion on either side of the tooth and gums?

Move up and down and make sure you go down along the tooth, back out a bit and then down along the other tooth. Never move in and out between your teeth and gum as it hurts your gum and can cause irritations and infections.
