What kind of exercise habits work for parents with small children on days you can’t make it to the gym?
For parents with small children, incorporating exercise into your daily routine can be both fun and effective. Consider activities like family walks, playing tag in the backyard, or doing short workout videos at home while your kids play nearby. Stacking these exercises with daily rituals, like morning stretches or evening dance parties, can make fitness enjoyable and sustainable. Remember, consistency is key, and finding ways to include your children can turn exercise into a shared bonding experience.
I recommend looking up YouTube exercise videos because there are some specifically designed for doing at home with children, where you and the children can get some movement in together (make sure you check that they are kid-friendly before hand…I’ve heard that Cosmic Kids Yoga is good but I haven’t personally tried it). You can also do games/ relay races/ obstacle courses depending on the supplies/time/energy for set up you have. Ive heard it recommend that you try to make the family exercise time part of your daily routine so the kids know and are more willing to participate fully in the activities.
