In school I learned it was both. I wish I could give you a more detailed answer lol but I can’t remember why. I think it’s really important before, though, and after is kinda more optional maybe. But I’m not sure.

Best time to stretch is in the morning and before bed. It's not a good idea to stretch before a workout, due to how our muscles function. It reduces performance output and increases the risk of injury
