I tend to feel like doing more exercise than just the 2-5min but then it ends up taking time and the next times I feel like I don’t have time to do it because I know I’ll want to do more. Should I force myself in the beginning to only do the very small amount instead of getting tempted to do more so I can stay motivated?

You should force yourself to do what feels right but to also not do to much, so you can stay motivated. If you want to do more than what you think is right, then persuade yourself to keep to the same routine.

I think you should give yourself more time but define it and don’t go over it. Have something after the gym that forces you to get out urgently without delay
. I go to the gym with my friend we agree on 40 min workout and after that we just both leave.
