It depends: if you’ve never done any kind of exercise you might want to start with 10 to 20 minutes running, walking might be 20 to 30. You may increase it monthly by only 10 additional minutes, both run or walk, if you keep a daily routine.

As a beginner I would only do 15 minutes your first couple of times or 1 mile. It may feel like oh I can do more but pace yourself and be kind to your body.
