I struggle with depression sometimes and that makes taking care of myself hard. If I forget to exercise or I’m unable to do so, I get very upset about it and it get’s so difficult to do the next day. How can I maintain the habit when I make it difficult for myself?
It’s understandable to feel overwhelmed when struggling with depression. To maintain your exercise habit, start small and set realistic goals. Instead of aiming for a full workout, commit to just 5-10 minutes of movement each day. Create a routine that includes gentle activities you enjoy, like stretching or walking. Celebrate your efforts, no matter how small, and remember that consistency is key. Building a supportive environment and practicing self-compassion can help make exercise a more manageable and enjoyable part of your self-care journey.
When I feel this way I realize my self talk is what is lacking. I boost my affirmations up and repeat them everytime I’m being hard on myself. Self love is loving yourself thru your imperfections.
