I like to run. Currently I can go up to 10km with a pace of a little over 5 min/km. What is the best way to improve speed and distance?
To improve your speed and distance in running, consider incorporating interval training, which alternates between high-intensity bursts and recovery periods. Gradually increase your weekly mileage by 10% to build endurance safely. Additionally, include strength training to enhance your overall performance and prevent injuries. Consistency is key, so establish a routine that balances speed work, long runs, and recovery days. Remember to listen to your body and allow for rest to support your progress.
That is a solid pace and right where I’m at too! I find focusing on breathing mindfully, full breaths and keeping it consistent helps to keep my energy up. Also, noticing how the body shifts when youre tired, making a conscious decision to make micro adjustments while you’re running, I find makes a huge difference. Improvements are made over a long period of time, many runs, so keep at it and I’m sure you’ll find your speed and distance improving!
