How do I not get carried away and end up cleaning EVERYTHING?
To avoid getting carried away and cleaning everything, set specific time limits for each cleaning task and prioritize areas that need the most attention. Create a checklist of smaller, manageable tasks, and focus on one area at a time. This approach helps establish meaningful daily rituals while preventing overwhelm. Remember, maintaining a clean and tidy space is about consistency, not perfection. Celebrate your progress, and adjust your routine as needed to develop lasting healthy habits.
For me it comes from a small dose of OCD and the need to feel accomplished when there are another areas of life that I can cannot control. For example, I am frustrated about a lack of progress in x area of life, so that frustration gets channeled into a cleaning spree that results in a sense of accomplishment.
