Are heavy weights with low reps better then light weights with lots of reps?
The choice between heavy weights with low reps and light weights with high reps depends on your fitness goals. Heavy weights with low reps are typically better for building strength and muscle mass, while light weights with high reps can enhance endurance and promote muscle toning. For lasting healthy habits, consider incorporating both methods into your routine, adjusting based on your personal goals and preferences. Remember, consistency and proper form are key to achieving your fitness objectives.
My recommendation is to go for a range between 8-12. Mainly for two reasons, 1) lower reps with heavy weights can increase the probability of injury 2) it has been shown that the number of reps it’s not that important, the important thing is to approximate muscular failure. And always use a good form.
