When I try to meditate there comes lot of thoughts like the pending works and reminders, and the thoughts are changing with such a speed that I can’t even count or understand the amount of thoughts I am having. Thoughts related to the pending works and duties makes me anxious so I can’t concentrate on the process of meditation and I am easily distracted. I can’t sit for long periods, even 3 minutes of meditation feels like so long for me.

Don’t be in a rush. When you start meditating it is like that. Your thoughts are part of you, don’t try to shut them down. With time, you’ll see result. Because our minds are not first used to meditation and we spend our days thinking about different things, so it is normal. Just breathe and it’ll be all right.

If I find my mind is super busy while meditating, I take a piece of paper, write down all the to dos and reminds so I don’t forget them, and I try again. The peace of mind of having them written allows me to focus better.

Praying works very well for me. It focuses me on good intentions and it gives me something to do while meditating. Eg. Reading the prayer instead of listening to a guided meditation. It’s also already present in everyone’s culture so you’re not reinventing the wheel.
