What is the normal duration for a mediation or ideal time duration for meditation?

Freddie J.
10-15 minutes, but it depends. sometimes i feel like i only need a short meditation to refocus my energy and intentions, but sometimes i feel like i need a longer one if i’m feeling really upset or anxious.

A normal duration for myself can be anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes depending on how my day goes and whether or not I need to de-stress during my work day. My preferred time is in the evening just prior to bedtime to help me unwind from the day.

If you're just starting out, 3-5 minutes are enough. You can extend to 10 after a week or so if you feel like it. There's no "ideal length" except the one that works for you. If you don't have much time for it, you can still reap the benefits in a few minutes. Just focus on breathing and calm your mind, that's all it matters

I guess it depends on your practice and schedule. I think at the beginning it's useful to make it short (10 to 15 min) for 2 reasons:
1. It's easier to fit it in the schedule and make it become a real habit
2. Harder to skip or feel lazy about it
And then as it becomes more of a habit then jump to longer sessions, maybe even not necessarily everyday but try it on those available days!

Honestly for me, it depends on my mindset. Some nights (I meditate before I go to bed), I’m already calm, and relaxed and I can get into the meditation super quick. Other times, it takes a while for me to focus and get my brain to stop bouncing around. It all depends on how long it takes for my brain to settle and for me to center my being in my body and mind. This app has a time listed, but it works best for me if I listen to my body and mind and go off of that. If I know that I’m not rushed and that I have all the time in the world to meditate, it’s easier to get to the place that I want to, and I end the session feeling better than if I felt rushed through it.
