How long did you meditate for when your first started?

I’m still learning, but i try to meditate around 15-20 minutes at a time. That’s all my brain can handle at this time. I also keep a notebook near by so when thoughts pester me I can write them down to better focus.

It took me 5 minutes at first, but once I kept practicing more I upped the time and it didn’t feel like something forced. It felt like I was doing something good for myself. Start small, then gradually work the time you do it for.

I followed the Calm app's 7 days to calm program which consisted of seven 10 minute sessions. The sessions went through how to focus on your breathing and return attention inward when your mind begins to wander. It was incredibly helpful.

I started with 10 minute guided sessions, once a day for 10 days.

10 minutes felt like a long time at first, and I was constantly getting lost in thoughts, but by the end of the 10 days I was feeling more comfortable with it and saw enough benefit to continue practicing.
