how do you know that meditation is creating change in your life?

I don’t yet. I’ve only been doing it for a couple weeks (I used to do it a lot, but stopped) so I haven’t noticed anything yet. I’m still struggling to stay focused when I meditate and not let my mind wander, but I’m getting better every day. That’s the first change that will be helpful for me, since my brain has a tendency to wander, get distracted, and jump from topic to topic very quickly (it’s hard to finish tasks when I get like that). Being able to focus my brain and quiet it in a calm setting is the beginning to be able to calm it in a busy setting or when my anxiety or trauma responses cause problems. That’s just a hope though, so we’ll see how it goes
