How can I reduce sleep anxiety? I get scared going to bed because I have a fear of throwing up and I’m always scared I’m gonna throw up in the mid of the night. Also, I can never get myself to bed earlier than usual because I never feel motivated, how can I go to bed early with no anxiety?!
Reducing sleep anxiety starts with creating a calming bedtime routine. Consider incorporating relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing or meditation, to ease your mind before sleep. To combat the fear of throwing up, try visualizing a peaceful scenario as you drift off. To motivate yourself to go to bed earlier, set a consistent sleep schedule and gradually adjust your bedtime by 15 minutes each night. Establishing these meaningful rituals can help you feel more secure and relaxed as you approach sleep.
Consider talking to a healthcare professional, there is no shame in that. Also, I can really recommend one of the recent episodes of the Her Discussion podcast by Dr Faye Bate where she talks to a sleep expert!
