Meditation is about allowing thoughts and feelings to arise in the mind, and kindly letting them go to focus on one thing. That may be your breath, scanning through your body from head to toe, or another sensation like your feet on the floor.
Think of this approach like gently touching a cloud with a feather or gently blowing on it. Just one little touch/breath and the thought/feeling will be on its way.
Once you catch yourself drifting into thought, be kind and patient to yourself as you refocus the mind. Talk to yourself like a young innocent child, who doesn’t know any better.
This kindness to ourselves allows us to let go of the suffering we inadvertently carry around. This one small change over time will help in more than just meditation, but life as a whole.
