Well, the way I see it, journaling is all about writing down what you feel at the moment. It is a means of emptying your thoughts and clearing your mind and to gain some perspective about your life at present. A journal is your best friend to whom you can share any secret you hold. So handwriting doesn’t matter in my opinion. How you feel after journaling is what matters the most. So, keep penning your thoughts down without any judgement, without a care about your handwriting! Happy journaling!

You can use a practice sheet to practice your handwriting skills in calligraphy. For me, practicing is the key to really improve your handwriting skills. Even though I had difficulties in writing calligraphy, I always use a piece of paper to practice calligraphy handwriting until I was able to get the hang of it. If you really want to write beautifully in your journal, I suggest you practice first, get a piece of paper or a practice sheet, until you are satisfied on your handwriting. I also wanted to write beautifully in my journal like quotes, words, names of people, etc. By practicing every day, you’ll be able to write so beautifully without the feeling that your handwriting is perfect or good. It doesn’t have to be perfect, what really matters is you really put an effort on what you write in your journal.

I personally love my handwriting. It’s an expression of the self! No one had handwriting like you, whether good or bad, so maybe you can learn to love it as a piece of something that is special to you! My handwriting also is scrawlly and messy, similar to my dad’s. I like that when I write it reminds me of him and his spirit that I carry with me always ❤️

I continue to write even when my handwriting isn’t perfect because journaling is more about expression than appearance. If I wait until my writing looks “good,” I might never write at all. My journal is a private space, not something meant to impress, and allowing myself to write imperfectly helps me stay consistent and honest. Over time, practice naturally improves handwriting, but what truly matters is showing up and letting my thoughts flow.
