I find myself getting distracted or procrastinating on completeing my to-do lists and tasks often. Are there any tips that could help with this?

My tip will be to narrow down your to do list to three main things. Having alarms as reminders when to accomplish your task. Sometimes the things that distract us could mean they need more of our attention. Limiting what distracts you instead of always trying to ignore it should potentially regain your focus on a set goal.

Knowing your hurtles is already a first step. Usually the solution is just the opposite of the problem. My tip is having a smaller to do list, start with little goals and set a time when you plan to get it done. The other thing that I sometimes struggle is not realizing how long a task actually takes me. Knowing a time and duration for smaller task is my advice.

honestly something that I’ve learned is that look at these tasks as something that will benefit you that will make your day better. These are like quests you need to complete in some video game to make sure that the present day not the future not the best but the present day is what is going to be good when I complete these tasks because this is what is going to make me happy this is what is going to make me healthy and this is what is going to make my life 1000 times better because I am living for myself

To be completely transparent with you, this is something that I also struggle with. My only advice would be to try making your to do list smaller. Each day only choose 3 maybe even 1 or 2 things that you are gonna do. Then only focus on that. It’s been helpful so far to me and I get excited when I see that Big list of stuff to do gets smaller and smaller each week

Break down big tasks into smaller ones. That way you get more frequent Dopamine fixes when you tick to-do’s of the list. Tackle only one big task and compensate with few small ones in between.

I have a few tips.

One, keep a notepad nearby while you’re doing tasks, and write down things you need to do that pop into your head, instead of going to do them right then. That way, you won’t forget everything else you need to do, but you can still focus on the one task you’re doing right now.

Two, before you begin a task, go around the space you’ll be doing the task in and put away distractions, like electronic devices, or things that you know you’ll get distracted by. Then there will be less distractions around you while doing the task, and as a bonus your space will be more tidy.

Three, work in small blocks and take breaks in between. Work on a task for, say, 20 minutes, then take a 5-10 minute break, even if you barely got anything done. This is called the Pomodoro technique and can help with both focus and procrastination. The timer gives you urgency to start getting things done, and the small breaks make sure you don’t get burned out and give your brain a chance to rest and reset before starting again.

Try starting with just one of these strategies, so you don’t get overwhelmed by adding three different things into your routine at once. If it doesn’t work, no worries, just try something else. I hope my advice will be helpful. I love you ❤️
