How do you write but be authentic (not needing everything to be perfect and actually writing in the moment rather than planning everything out beforehand)
To write authentically in your journal, embrace spontaneity. Allow yourself to write freely without the pressure of perfection. Set a timer for 10 minutes and jot down whatever comes to mind—thoughts, feelings, or observations. This practice helps you connect with your true self and encourages genuine expression. Remember, the goal is to capture the moment, not to craft a flawless narrative. Over time, this will cultivate a meaningful daily ritual that enhances your self-awareness and emotional well-being.
I have a notepad app on my phone so that I always have somewhere I can write. If something comes to mind, I’ll open up the app & write in the moment. Or if I’m limited on time, I do an audio recording of what I’d write. I give myself permission to not complete a thought. Some days I go to write & will write just one word and other days I can write for days. Allowing myself to flow with whatever moment I’m in has made it easier for me to write authentically. But it’s taken time & practice to build the habit.
I try and not think about what I am writing and just write for a minimum of 3 pages without going back and self editing what I write and just write what is on my mind . Rambling is better as it gets down to the really deep stuff hidden beneath the surface .
