I think there's a fine line between the good pain and the bad pain (when doing sports for example), but if you feel like what you're doing feels rather bad then you should probably stop and take a break or continue doing something else for a while, then try it again in a next attempt and see if it works now. Stay healthy!

It's important to first test out what your limits are. You can either make slow steps in what you are doing and see when it is getting to much or you try something to the point where you feel like it is enough now. It's more like a intuition thing.
