Maybe a 10-minute aerobics will do? Do this when you reach a half a mile. After the 10-minute aerobics, go another mile of walking. Don't forget to take a few minutes rest in between.

I would suggest the best way to increase the exercise habit and maintain your fitness goals is to move from brisk walking to fast walking for the same amount of time that you use to and slowly increase the amount of time or the number of reps you do for the walk. You can also add a morning stretching routine to the walk that you do that will help you get the required stretching and will make you feel energetic and light. You can also alternate between running and walking to achieve higher calorie burns in the same duration of time
