This helps me determine the duration and type of exercise/movement/workout to opt for depending on the day. Having options/variety can make the approach towards working out & it’s completion less overwhelming.
It’s important to be gentle and accepting with our body and mind’s state. To not be judgemental when we have reached our limit or do not have capacity to push further. To allow ourselves to be flexible in how we continue or wrap up the session.
When the workout gets challenging and we know we can push through, we need to be able to motivate ourselves to see it through – whatever works for you. Whether it’s choosing how to reward ourselves after the session or telling ourselves, “one more rep, just a little more, I can finish this”.
Be mindful to take breaks to breath slower and deeper, give ourselves a moment to recenter, refocus and regain composure and quieten any negative/judgemental voices. If we really can’t continue, it is entirely okay to wrap up the session. Wind down with breathing and stretching, also acknowledgement and gratitude towards ourselves for the time and effort, agree that this is enough for today and we’ve done well.
