How did you know what your purpose was?

Trial and error and therefrom that there is no such thing as a given or grand purpose, there is only the one we chose, which is ever-shifting.
As we grow as individuals, our view of the world, the things that are important to us and what brings us joy, will change and therefore also our purpose.
