A great biography about a brilliant, yet troubled mind that dealt with issues of his own failures, social isolation, and mental illness and, yet, was still honored for his grand contribution to mathematical knowledge.
They make me happy and calm. I’m not joking when I say that I read all seven of them every single year. Often I listen to the audio books, Stephen Fry reads them spectacularly!
Harry Potter has such a special place in my life. The story feels like home to me. And I’ve had some issues with finding a place of home in my life.
I normally read fantasy, science fiction, romantic book or classics.
Between fantasy books I would suggest the Percy Jackson series and its following ones (by Rick Riordan) as well as all the other series he wrote, which are all fantastic; also the Shadowhunter series by Cassandra Clare is wonderful. I loved the Grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo too. The Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children series by Ransom Riggs and The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini are two of my favourites.
Talking about science fiction, my favourite series are The Maze Runner series by James Dashner and The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins.
My favourite romance book is Me before you (and the two sequels) by Jojo Moyes and my favourite classic book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Even though I really love The picture of Dorian Gray (by Oscar Wilde) too.

2. (Because I can’t just pick one) Toni Morrison’s “The Bluest Eye” this book was an intense read that covered a very real and sad topic. The book is written so beautifully that it almost reads like poetry. You get lost in the imagery that Morrison paints with her words and you almost forget that the book is quite sad and just remember the bitter sweet beauty of it. It’s like this excerpt from the book: “Misery colored by the greens and blues in my mother's voice took all of the grief out of the words and left me with a conviction that pain was not only endurable, it was sweet.”
It's really insightful and especially helpful for all of those people who tend to fall into the spiral of their negative thinking.

Seeing the movie at that young age had a dramatic effect on me. The music, the storyline, it drew me in, it spoke to me in such a powerful way.
I then got the book and the cassette tape from the movie soundtrack. I can remember carrying this huge portable stereo around with me so I could listen to the music. It helped me think, feel, imagine, dream.
That short, little book with its profound message helped shape my entire life.
It’s something I gift to those I care about, that’s the impact it had on me.
And I really want to read Ikigai.
Really recommend it.
I love the chalet school school books by Elinor m Brent dyer which were a boarding school series de in the Austrian Tyrol stating in the 30’s, covering the war period and continuing into the late 50’s. They are out of print now but you can get them used and I am re reading all 70 something of them!

When I was younger, I loved The Outsiders. My absolute favorite from grade 6 to 8.
Now that I am older, I still love the book.
I really enjoyed Beartown. Really stayed with me after reading it. I recommend that book the most out of all books.

I had a hard conflict to get to that result .. I always can't choose between anything I hope I get help with that
Anything by David Sedaris hands down. I know that’s not a single book (and there are a couple more to come), but the relatability and his wry humor are irresistible to read. And his books are short autobiographical stories. So they are easy to get through a chapter and feel accomplished.
A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb. The literary references are what first drew me in. And being a writer myself, it is an inspiring story. Also, I’m not a fan of romance novels, but this one I will always consider a classic on my bookshelf. I cry every time I finish it.
And of course the Harry Potter series. I loved books to begin with. I think I may have even read the Chronicles of Narnia previous. But this serious made me a voracious reader. Currently re-reading it and am thrilled to be finding the joy of reading all over again.

Jane Eyre was my favorite book growing up. She was a unique heroine, her own person, and the story had great twists.
The Hunger Games is my favorite trilogy. I read all three books in a week. Couldn’t put them down. That “just one more chapter” thing.
Fingersmith is a book that surprised me. I didn’t expect to love it the way I do and it gave me the historical feel of books like Jane Eyre and Little Women.
The Guest List is the best Who-dun-it I’ve read in recent years.

I find it hard to answer that I have a favourite… I have had different ones at different times perhaps, but, stepping away from the question, I find it impossible to pick a 'favourite'.
So I will just say that Jonathan Livingston Seagull has had a recurring presence in my life, and the reasons for that may be coincidence, or resonance, or more likely a blend of both of those and more.
One of my favorites is The Mists of Avalon .
It is the book that inspired me to read more about angels. Now I'm currently reading the Fallen series by Lauren Kate.
It is the most beautiful intersection of life and death, chance and choice, art and science.
I also love Big magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. This book helped me ponder where inspiration comes from.

Buchanan and Miriam Peskowitz. I added this last one because my uncle gave it to me and for a long time it was the only thing I would read as a child. It taught cool things like how to build a clock, fight moves, ponytails and about awesome women from the past and from nowadays, also about fashion around the world and how to make treasure hunts. I didn’t realize how awesome that book was until a while ago. Anyways, thanks if you read this far. And thanks for asking.
