Anything by Walter Moers. His world is great and the stories amazing. Most of his books are set in the same universe, but they are stand-alone so the order you read them in is not important. The stories he tells can be dark at times, but still beautiful and the art that accompanies them is stunning.

'the girl who dared to' series, as it is full of action, suspense, (and some romance) but is definitely a page turner, I've read the whole series twice, although there are 7 books so if you don't like long series this may not be the best choice
