Write not just how you day went, write how the day made you feel. Write how you reacted to things and reflect on your emotions at the time.
Write how you feel when you woke up. Reflect on the day yesterday, remind yourself of some goals in life, and then circle back and write your tasks and desires for today.
You can start with what happened in your day and how it made you feel. Some people write three things that they were grateful for during that day. You can also just write what comes in your mind.
