What kind of short workouts can I do first thing in the morning? I exercise in a gym 3-4 times a week and go for walks whenever I can, but I’d like a short (think 5 min) routine I can do first thing in the morning just to get the body moving. I’ve thought of doing a few sun salutations or a few body weight moves like squats or push-ups but I’d like other ideas. Going for walks is not possible because I’m a single mom and I can’t leave my son alone. I need stuff I can do before he wakes up :)

Thanks for the question. I'm all for a short morning workout! I've been doing the built-in 7-minutes workout. It's stretching the 5 minutes a bit since it in all takes about nine minutes, but I highly recommend it! Give it a try!

My morning routine is to have a walk in the near park as soon as it opens (at 8) and drink my green tea so that I do 2 things of my to do list in one and fight the cold drinking something warm. I also exercise 3 times a week with weights in the gym, do yoga advanced on Saturday and sometimes some yoga in the evening before sleep

I like to awaken my spine when I wake up, so i do some gentle neck half rolls, side bends, cat/cow stretches & general yawn whole body stretch 🤪

I do a combination of jumping Jack's, mountain climber, step-up into a chair, step, or a stair, pushup and rotation, and lastly planks. I hope you find this helpful

There are apps you can get with simple stretches that you pick from a variety of pictures and they chose a routine around how many minutes you want to do and you select which apps you want to do for how many minutes

I think sun salutations are an amazing place to start. Getting the body warmed up and stretched for the day ahead is perfect for the morning and doesn't take long

Try doing some yoga. It is a low intensity workout that can slowly wake up your body. It will also stretch your body so you can start the day with a relaxed body instead of with tight and cramped muscles.

Jumping jacks, stairs are good if you have them. Hill climbers are one of my favorites though. They do wonders.
BONUS: I like a quick ab workout. Pushups for one minute. Do as many as you can. Front plank for one minute. Left side plank/ right side plank one minute each. Jumping jacks for one minute. I like to repeat for 15 minutes total. Key- no stopping inbetween. So much fun and feels great afterwards. Good luck!!:)

I think you should try doing yoga in the morning! Get a yoga mat and that way if your son is still sleeping it won’t wake him up. And it wakes up your body by stretching!

I struggle with my work hours in the daily basis. I’ve being trying short yoga routines; for example 5 min core workouts. Usually this kind of routines involve plank variations, this way you get the best of the exercise in a short time.

First off, I think you’re already on the right track with doing sun salutations or body weight exercises. If you want to keep yourself accountable try setting a small goal each night for the next morning. For example: Tomorrow I will do 5 pushups, 5 air squats, 6 lunges and 5 Supermans. Something simple so you can stick to it and change up the exercises when you feel it’s needed. Even setting a timer for 5 minutes to stretch in the morning is a great way to start your day.

Dancing is a great full body routine that doesnt take long. If you cant make noise then you could qiqong poses of muscle activation and redistribution. I hope some of these help! Youre doing great!
