What do you write in your journal if there is no event that triggered your emotions/thoughts?

When I have "nothing" to write, I try to think about how I felt the whole day, or, if I didn’t, why? I also take this time to write about how I view things and people, and reflect about it - things from the past, too (were they different?). How do I feel about them? Is it good? No? Why not? Could I do something to change it? Do I need help? I write about these things, my thoughts. Or, if any of this worked, I take some random question on Google and answer it. And try to reflect something about it. Does it say something useful?
