I don’t like eating breakfast, but have been trying it out. How do you make yourself enjoy a healthy breakfast?

This is also the case for me as well. In my experience I found that I had no appetite in the morning but I would also lose energy fast in the day. When I learned about how Chinese medicine and Ayurveda approach health through tastes and elemental imbalances it helped me a lot to understand what was really happening with me. Sometimes there are certain foods, spices or flavors that can activate your hunger that you can add to your diet which make a big difference with small effort. Sometimes our digestion can’t handle eating something cold or dry because it will shut it down. So what helps me is drinking a warm glass of water with a squeeze of fresh lemon first thing in the morning, add a pinch of some good tasting salt if you feel a bit dehydrated or sluggish digestion. Room temperature strips of fresh peeled ginger marinated in lime juice will activate your digestion. It can be a bit sharp so start with small pieces and just suck on them or hold them in your mouth before chewing them. A warm tea like lemon ginger is nice or Tulsi Brahmi tea. They are both warm and stimulating to the digestion. I like to avoid dry and cold food like cold cereal, bread, toast, smoothies, cold milk or juices in the morning cuz it shuts down and slows my digestion, plus aggravates my already dehydrated state. If you eat dry food then you have to drink even more water to compensate. I like to eat fresh scrambled eggs with maybe some veggies scrambled into it like spinach, mushrooms or tomatoes. I also like porridge or oatmeal of some kind. I get the easy to make kind where you just add hot water so it’s super quick. Anyway, that’s what I try to do for my lack of appetite. Take what works and leave the rest.

Well, it's uncomfortable to eat breakfast right after getting up from the bed. Even many face difficulty to drink water right away. Nevertheless, it's s matter of practice that turns into a habit over the time. For me, its comfortable to have some exercise in the morning that generates quite a lot of hunger and consequently I enjoy the breakfast to the fullest. You may have a try, but remember initial days will give you resistance!

I choose something that is healthy but also that I like. Then I make myself breakfast and choose a nice, clean part of my apartment to eat. While I eat I talk to my boyfriend or look outside, or read, something that makes me feel relaxed. When I can I also plan a breakfast with friends in my favorite health cafe. Good luck 🙂

I actually have always enjoyed breakfast. I would start out with a small bite to eat each morning for a while, and eventually I think you’ll train your body to crave that morning meal. I function better when i have breakfast.
