Shorter is better as it provides focus, and ranked is even better. My to-list and my wife's list differs a lot. My wife will write it down and tick it off through the day, while I prefer to have it as diary entries so that I can get to it (i.e. manage my time to ensure I actually do it).
I make my list short so if I’m having a bad day or haven’t slept well I don’t feel pressurised to do loads when I don’t feel up to it. Normally I end up feel motivated once I’ve completed my short list and I’m more likely to do other things that’s I need to do
