How do you manage to let go of your breath rather than trying to control it?

It takes practice. The more you do it the easier it becomes. The continued practice of it will allow you to learn to let go in life as well. Just flow.
Erase any expectations when you begin and open yourself up to all the possibilities. It may feel uneasy at first but you will lean in more and more then eventually fall in love the letting go.

Asking this question alone… is still trying to control it. Trying to control your breath, like trying to control anything in life, leads to frustration and anger. Try using full body scan guided meditation, so you pay attention to the breath for a few inhales and exhales, but then you move on. There are so many different types of meditation… keep trying new ones until you find one that brings peace.
