How do you get past gym-intimidation when you are brand-new to weightlifting and haven’t worked out in over a decade?

Sophia T.
It is normal to feel that way since your physical and mental condition well be less effective than when you were Compliant with weightlifting , but it is only a short period of time till you get back to your previous fitness level.

what i’ve learned works for me is accepting that i stopped working out. of course it isn’t pleasant to come to terms with, but acknowledging that i won’t be in the place i left off in—say, lifting a certain weight or working out for a certain amount of time—aids personal kindness. while i’m inevitably going to perform less than i used to, accepting it and telling myself it’s okay helps avoid shying away from starting again. “yes, i used to do more, but if i work hard, i can surpass that as well.”
