Do you eat before exercising?

Fabulous CoachBehavioral Science AssistantRecommended AnswerAI Summary

Eating before exercising can depend on individual preferences and the type of workout. Generally, a light snack 30-60 minutes prior can provide energy and enhance performance. Focus on easily digestible carbohydrates and some protein. However, some people may prefer to exercise on an empty stomach, known as fasted cardio. Experiment with what feels best for you, and listen to your body. Establishing a routine that includes pre-exercise nutrition can help you develop lasting healthy habits and improve your overall fitness goals.

I usually don’t eat before exercise. I like to exercise early in the morning when I wake up, that helps kick starts my day with the energy I need, after that I shower then have my breakfast

It depends! If I haven’t eaten in a while or feel hungry, I will eat something small and light, such as fruits and veggies with a small amount of protein and good fat, like a tablespoon of peanut butter. This helps me maintain the energy I need for my workout and avoid crashing, which can happen when I work out on an empty stomach. If I’ve eaten recently, I don’t usually need to eat before working out. However, if I feel very full or have just finished eating a meal, I will wait to work out to ensure I don’t get sick or slow myself down.
