How do you deal with a sudden weight gain even though you’ve been active?

Pat Z.
Sudden weight gain is usually caused by inflammation in the body. When I experience this I reflect on my recent diet and what could have triggered the inflammation. Gluten, processed sugar, processed meats, and sometimes dairy are all triggers for inflammation in my body causing me to wake up and add an extra 7 pounds to the scale. The way I address this inflammation from my diet is by giving my digestive system a rest and giving it time to heal by fasting. Other causes for the inflammation in the body could be caused by lack of sleep, stress levels, or water intake. These triggers can occur if the body is feeling overwhelmed with amount of activity levels. You need more sleep at night to recover from workouts, more water intake to rehydrate and help muscles recover, and acquire proper stress levels. Perhaps it’s not mental stress that is causing your body to overwork itself resulting in the inflammation, but rather physical stress. Low intensity workouts like walking can be more effective than high amounts of cardio because of the lack of stress it puts on the body.
These are some ideas have been implementing in my own life to help balance the number on the scale, but the key is to be patient with yourself just like you would be with a loved one.
