Fabulous suggests eating breakfast straight away but I often like to wait a few hours because I’m not hungry immediately upon waking, and also sometime find intermittent fasting (with an 8 hour eating window) helps my digestion and to maintain my weight. Is there a particular reason (scientifically) why eating breakfast early is better than waiting until later in the day?

Leanne Q.
Yes — there are several scientific reasons why eating breakfast earlier in the day appears to be better than delaying your first meal, and most of them come down to circadian biology, metabolism, and hormone regulation:

1. Circadian Rhythm & Metabolism
2. Blood Sugar Control
3. Hormone Regulation
4. Appetite & Energy Balance
5. Studies on Meal Timing

Eating breakfast earlier in the day supports your body’s natural rhythms, helps regulate blood sugar, and promotes better long-term metabolic health. Waiting until much later may impair these processes and make your body less efficient at handling food.
