I thought the apples and bananas we’re really high in sugar. Especially if the banana is really ripe. How does the fruit have protein?

Annamaria P.
I ate a medlar for breakfast, I think that green apple or pink grapefruit should be better. I'm doing intermittent fasting and I'm sure that in the morning I'll eat a bar of dried fruit, walnuts, almonds, figs, plums, raisins and puffed quinoa, made by me and baked in the ooven. I really don't know if that is a good choice.

Apples and bananas do have sugars, but they also have fiber and nutrition! Read about glycemic index of GI to learn more! Fruit and vegetables all have some protein, some more than others. šŸ™‚
"Proteins are a class of macromolecules that perform a diverse range of functions for the cell. They help in metabolism by providing structural support and by acting as enzymes, carriers, or hormones. The building blocks of proteins (monomers) are amino acids." https://courses.lumenlearning.com/wm-biology1/chapter/reading-function-of-proteins/

I don't mean to be mean, but you aren't going to get a real answer by asking here. Go look it up. Sugar and protein are two completely unrelated things. Something can be high in both, and the ripeness of the fruit is completely unrelated to its protein level.

Iā€™m not actually sure but I know fruit has good sugar in it that helps your body have energy to do things! Having some fruit is a lot better for you than having a Carmel latte from Starbucks!šŸ˜‚

I is not important for me if it is high ot low in sugar, for me if it gaves me energy for all day to do wonderful things is the best.

Yes, bananas do have sugar, but are not necessarily higher than a lot of other fruits. These sugars anyways are natural sugars and are much different than the sugar in a chocolate cake. Bananas are rich in the mineral potassium. Potassium helps maintain fluid levels in the body and regulate movement of nutrients and waste products in and out of cells, potassium also helps muscles contract and nerve cells to respond. Bananas are an overall very healthy fruit and carry many other vitamins.
I hope this helps!!

Apples and bananas do indeed have a high sugar content, but they are not refined sugars. Many plants are cable of having protein, including bananas, but they are not sufficient as a stand alone source.
