I don’t usually feel like eating in the morning. Is intermittent fasting unhealthy?

Heather S.
I don’t think so. In general it’s best to eat some protein on the earlier side to help get your metabolism going and hold off hunger until lunch. But seems like it wouldn’t be good to force it if you aren’t feeling hungry. What does your morning routine look like? What is the first food you eat and when? Have you ever tried eating some breakfast earlier, and if so, how do you feel after? Just some thoughts to ponder 🙂 Have a great day!

Yes is can be unhealthy but also remember that you don't have to eat much you can even just eat some nuts and your good to go.

I don't think it's unhealthy if you are actually doing it. If you skip breakfast then binge later the fasting is pointless. Your supposed to try to reduce calories.

Intermittent fasting is actually very healthy. If you don't feel like eating in the morning don't do it. You don't have to take the 3 meals a day rule so seriously if you don't feel like it.

Nope, it’s not unhealthy! It’s better to listen to your body’s hunger cues. Eating when you are not hungry will just lead to overeating. However, you might want to try drinking water in the morning to see if that gets your digestive system running and ready to eat. Whether you eat breakfast or not, just make sure that the first thing you eat is a balanced healthy meal so that your eating patterns start off on the right foot for the day!

Intermittent fasting improves various metabolic features known to be important for brain health. This includes reduced oxidative stress, reduced inflammation and a reduction in blood sugar levels and insulin resistance. So yes, it’s healthy if done right.

I don’t know a lot about intermittent fasting, but I do know the benefits of eating in the morning. You have more energy to go throughout your day when you drink water and eat a balanced breakfast. You’re motivated to do more and be more. I hope this helps!

Intermittent fasting is not unhealthy. It allows your body to use the extra energy stores. It is helpful for loosing weight. The body tries to work smarter not harder. If you are constantly supplying your body with easily digestible energy it will never use you reserves (fat). It can be problematic for those with eating disorders. It can be used as a stepping stone to fall back into anorexic tendencies. The simplest answer is to eat only when hungry and stop when you are full. Simple does not mean easy but if you are not hungry in the morning wait to eat.

I personally cannot answer that question. You need to speak with your physician about that. It works for me and I am closely in touch with health care to monitor.

Intermittent fasting has all sorts of benifits, just do a YouTube video search on the topic and you'll learn a ton on the miraculous benifits of fasting

No, it's ok to eat just when you're hungry. I wouldn't recommend true intermittent 16-18 hr fasting daily, maybe every other day at most. Just make sure when you do eat it's a well balanced healthy meal or snack.

I like to plan my breakfast the night before. It makes me motivated to get up and go eat that yummy breakfast. I also treat myself to a "gourmet" breakfast, and it makes me excited to get up, and then I am energized for my morning!

Intermittent fasting is healthy, but I recommend skipping dinner, not breakfast. Study shows people who skip breakfast tend to be more hungry and consume more calories during the day. It's also bad for keeping your metabolism up and keeping you energized and thinking clearly in the first half of the day. Skippping dinner, however, has some health benefits.

Hi, I used to feel the same thing. Few years back. I used to skip my breakfast and have lunch for years and hence I never used to feel like anything once I get up. Even now when I get up immediately I don't feel like eating. I usually eat after an hour or more. So how did I get into the habit of eating my breakfast? I started to eat in the morning even if I didn't like, started with to be honest with you with unhealthy stuffs like cheese Maggie or something which I like to atleast get into the habit of eating. Then gradually shifted to eating healthy once I started feeling hungry in the morning. My body got adapted to eating in the morning and I felt hungry in the morning, so once I was hungry I would eat, so instead of eating unhealthy I replaced it with something healthy..since I was hungry now even the healthy things tasted good. But still I eat what I like for breakfast and not force myself to eat something for just sake of it.. this is the last thing you want to start your day with. I usually eat cornflakes milk, or bread butter jam, eggs. Sometimes I eat a brownie with a cup of coffee. At the end of the day all that makes you happy! 🙂 Eat well, Stay blessed!

Actually, it is the contraire. Intermittent fasting has been proven (in mice) to enhance longevity because it helps to eliminate sick and old cells. Furthermore it improves the absorption of nutrients of the next meal. So be mindful about it . However please drink water during the morning so your body can flush everything from the night before and activate body functions. Enjoy

I don’t think intermittent fasting is bad for a short period. But I should never skip breakfast, it is a start of the day. It can be a moment for yourself ir with your family or even during the weekend with your friends.

In the past somebody told me:

Breakfast : eat like a King (most calories)
Lunch: eat like a Lord (average calories)
Diner: eat like poor people ( less as possible)

I'm no professional, since I'm still fixing my eating habit myself. But I personally think eating before starting. Any daily activity is pretty important. Maybe you can do brunch instead, bring a friend to accompany you. Or maybe you can sneak in a fruit of your choice in the morning.
