Journaling has helped me express my feelings without having to share them out loud. Doing it takes those thoughts out of your head to then be stuck on paper.

Gratitude journaling has helped me to shift my negative self-talk and pessimistic vision of the future.
I write:
5 things I'm grateful for,
4 things I accomplished today,
3 people I'm going to say a quick prayer for (or send out good vibes for),
2 things I'm excited about, and
1 big ask (a big thing I need, but am too scared to ask for because it's so big).
Bonus: I fall asleep faster on nights that I do this.
