How do you decide which tasks to target first on your to-do list?

I am trying to prioritize whatever has to do with health ( mental – physical) like sports , preparing my meals, taking care of myself and then whatever it has to be done like my job, taxes , answer to my clients and so on.

Frankly speaking, I’m only on my way to make the right order for me . I do change the order of habits very often. Finally I cut the number of habits. My choice depends on my morning mood -if I woke up early, I can do all the habits . But if I woke up late, I do the most important. As if today, for instance, I decided to write my to do first to make my head free of different thoughts. In my list it stands the last. To concluded, it takes some time to understand how to order the habits, to feel myself most comfortable. Cut, add, reorder, again and again, and finally find the best!

I go with the most difficult and the heaviest/ fullest of tasks. Especially those that require mental strength. This is why I prefer working out in the mornings because my energy levels are higher and because it’s gets harder to mentally put myself in that space over the course of the day, it is best to start early. I am a morning person, so I try to do most of big ones when I’m active so that I can wind down properly as the day passes.
