I was introduced to reading when I was very young and loved it so much to the point that getting books as presents was the best thing because I was excited about the adventures. However, over several years I stopped reading as much and don’t feel the same connection. How do I get back the love for reading no matter how busy I get when I feel a barrier to it?

You can get back your love for reading by telling yourself, first of all, that is totally normal and human to feel this barrier, expecially if we have our minds occupied by other thoughts and tasks. Then try to give yourself a silent and comfortable place, the time to disconnect and the space to enter in the right mindset for the reading. Pick the book you feel most drawn to, a reading that sparks a light of curiosity in you, and take a minute to observe it: look at the cover, its colors, material and how it feels to your touch; look at the title, the side of the book and its back. You can even try to smell the pages, if they aren’t too old or moldy. Then, open the book and start slow, with the first words of the first page. If your attention feels scattered or you don’t feel immediately engaged, it’s normal: I think the human brain takes at least 2 minutes to enter in a state of focus, so if you feel discouraged by your mind, try giving a chance to the next 2-3 pages, driven by the curiosity of how the plot unfolds. This personally worked for me, so I wanted to shared my experience, hoping that, even if everyone’s brain works differently, it can somehow help you rediscover the passion for reading 😊 and most important thing: take your time, do it step by step
