Well, first, no one can tell you how to feel. Genuinely, I would suggest doing something that your inner self has been dreaming of doing! Even if it’s as simple as sticking to a night routine for 30 days or tackling that DIY project that’s been pushed off for months. You have to find the small things to be grateful for. Personally, I am thankful to have the will to get up in the morning and keep moving, or even waking up 5 minutes before my alarm!

You can make a list but how about giving some thought to each thing on it, and imagine how life would feel less full without it.

For someone, listing things off is enough. But, if it’s not for you, try thinking: what the person had to do to make this for you? Maybe you can thank him or do something for him. What do you think?

Instead of listing a lot of things you’re grateful for, try listing one or two and writing a couple sentences about why you are grateful for it.

I get creative. Sometimes I get a lot of green lights on the way to work that I typically don’t, and I am grateful for that. Sometimes during a walk, I’ll hear a bird and be grateful for birdsong. And if I’ve had a crappy day? Grateful that my really old car started. That I have a job with health insurance. And you write it out and really try to remember that lots of people don’t have those things.

Set a timer for 2 minutes and feel the feeling of gratitude appreciation. Close your eyes and feel the emotion. You don’t have to attach it to people, places & things. Just feel the emotion. And smile as you are doing it.
