I usually eat about 15-30mins after but if you need energy before exercising eat something light before and a good filling breakfast after.

I'd say the sooner would be 1h after the workout. I am on medication that require me to take them 30 mn before breakfast (and every meal for that matter) so I'm saying 1h, to really settle in on the endorphins effect too.
