Reading other books can significantly enrich your writing process. It exposes you to diverse perspectives and styles, which can inspire and enhance your own ideas. However, it’s essential to balance this with your unique voice. Consider setting specific reading times as part of your daily routine, allowing you to absorb new concepts while maintaining focus on your book’s narrative. Embrace the influence of others, but trust your instincts to create a story that is authentically yours.

I thought it was fit to answer this question, being that I’m writing a book of my own. And the answer is that reading other books is absolutely alright. Just about every book has ideas that were somewhat inspired from others. Just as long as you’re mindful of how it’s affecting your own writing, it’s ok.
