For those with mental illness. How do you keep a clean home?
Keeping a clean home can be challenging, especially for those with mental illness. Start small by establishing a daily ritual, like dedicating just 5-10 minutes to tidying up one area. Break tasks into manageable chunks and consider habit stacking—pair cleaning with another routine, like listening to music or a podcast. Celebrate small victories to build motivation, and remember that consistency is key. Creating a clean environment can enhance your mental well-being and support your overall goals.
To keep a clean and tidy home can be a challenge even for healthy people, with a busy life. My mom says : if you are surrounded by mess, your inside - thoughts, feelings etc. will reflect that. Keep a tidy home, and think/feel clearly. In the beginning, washing the floor and doing the dishes will feel like a choir. But in time, you’ll get into a rythm - because cleaning is also a thing you have to practice to be good at. Thereafter it will get easier, and the affects of it will make you feel so good, so at home, that you’ll want to do it.
