Do you prefer to read in the original language copy or translated to your language

Hebe N.
I’ve been using English for such a long time in my daily life now, I find it hard to ‘get into’ books written in my own language (Dutch). It’s a pity though, and something that I plan to remedy at some point again. How about you?

I prefer to read books in translation. This way I get more impressions from what I read. I associate reading in the original with the educational aspect rather than with enjoying literature, so I do it rarely. In addition, the language of some writers is full of rarely used or completely unfamiliar words, the search of the meaning of which can kill the very desire to read.
