For me it depended on the day. If I planned it out ahead of time I would go hiking in the morning. If I just wanted a simple exercise it was better in the evening when it was a little cooler outside. I love doing a bedtime yoga in the evening to wind down for the day.
As long as you are moving your body at some point during the day I would say you are winning. My advice is to exercise when you are the most tired and you just need a little dopamine boost.
