What prevents you from reading more? How do you work around it?

Usually a busy schedule keeps me from reading more. But if that’s the case, I’ll bring a book or magazine around with me so when I find I have a little free time, I have something to read.

I have designated times I read and mostly before bed. It helps to know I'm putting my book down at 9 pm. It's really about control. Which is hard with reading!

If you're talking about reading at night time before bed I pick a book that I only read at night so I don't read it during the day and a book that is interesting but not something I couldn't put down easily.

I usually read before sleeping and I use it to completely relax and finish my day. Around bed time I check the time and decide to close my book and sleep

When I do not set a reminder or an alarm to begin my evening routine I ALWAYS stay up late until I pass out on the couch watching television. It’s the absolute worst.

The reminders/alarm that I set for the evening REALLY help me get going!

In the mornings I like to keep it logical.

Weigh myself (this is interesting to me because the number on the scale is tangible data… I like numbers!), drink a bunch of water, THEN I read while I am eating breakfast.

If I don’t set a reminder to read at night, or if I miss breakfast, then I simply don’t read! It’s not because I don’t want to but merely that I’ve forgotten.

I hope this helps you to read more often!

This is a very interesting question! At first, my blind and honest answer would be that it pretains to interest, mostly. Firstly, I completely understand this issue. I LOVE books and I love reading… however the seemingly only time I have time read is before bed, when I'm already sleepy or tired. I could easily try reading at some other point in the day, but realistically during the weekdays, tjis is not so easily achieved.
As to how to fix this, I may swap some "tube" time for some reading time or go to a cafe on the weekend and have "read 'n' relax dates" with myself.

The more time I have doing nothing, like waiting for, while on the train, before sleeping… these are good times to take out your book and read. Otherwise, there's no good time to read, you need to create time and that is hard. For me (somehow lazy to read) would make perfect sense to have a book that interests me, which would help me read more.

Being tired at the end of the day, audiobooks are a good almost-replacement, but you can also combine reading while excercising.

A lot of things have prevented me from reading more. Before i started reading this amazing self help book, i was always on my phone or watching netflix. I’ve had it in mind to buy it but i never got to until i went to the philippines. There, i bought the book (cheaper than Australia) and now I’m reading. I love reading books tbh, i just hardly read though. My laziness probably stopped me from reading as well. It takes a great book to make me read more and that’s what i got. Now i read everyday for 30mins.

Getting sleepy while reading prevents me from reading as much as I want to sometimes. I avoid that by reading earlier in the day.

I sometimes get lazy and end up procrastinating which doesn’t help me whatsoever and I’m not able to read. But right now I’m pushing my self not to procrastinate and find time to read everyday while still being able to fit everything else in my schedule

I believe I can’t read well or understand what I am going to read and get frustrated just thinking about reading for a long period of time. I feel like I can’t focus and therefore get demotivated…

I put off reading until the end of the day right before I go to bed. Many times, if I'm up late working, I'll prioritize reading last because it's nonessential. The best thing to do, though, is to find time to read no matter how little. Some days I read chapter after chapter. Other days I'll only read a page. As long as I read something though, it's all okay.
