First Things First
Hi, Fabulous Traveler,
Now you’re writing your to-do list and reviewing your calendar every day, you’ve gained a good general feeling of what you need to do. I hope the habit is becoming nicely ingrained in you.
If not, spend a bit more time getting used to checking your to-do list and calendar every day before you move on to this next stage.
Here we’re going to narrow down your to-do list to determine the most important tasks.
Declutter Your Life
Life is much easier when we declutter it, Fabulous Traveler, so don’t fall prey to the endless to-do list syndrome, where you add so many tasks to your to-do list you end up doing only the easiest ones.
Just doing quick, easy tasks gives you a false sense of accomplishment. And you’ll find that even though you’ve been busy all day, you haven’t made much progress on your important goals.
You need to ingrain focus into your personality. Choose the most important tasks and let go of the rest.
Steve Jobs, former Apple CEO, used to gather his top 100 people each year to brainstorm ideas. He would then ask: “What are the most important 10 things we need to do now?” Everyone would rush to offer suggestions, then when there were 10, Jobs would slash through the bottom 7 and announce: “We can only do 3.”
You too, Fabulous Traveler, can only do 3.
Reduce your to-do list to the most important tasks
Use the A/B/C system to prioritise your workload. Give each of your tasks an A/B/C mark depending on its importance.
When you work, begin with the A task, only moving on to the B task when the A task is completed, and so on to the C task last.
Resist the temptation to rate too many tasks as A. Seriously, not everything is that important.
We'd like to challenge you even more: choose your most important 3 tasks, and do your best to complete them during the day.
Your Challenge
On 3 days of this week, after you’ve written your to-do list and checked your calendar, prioritise your tasks by putting an A/B/C notation in front of each one.
If you’re ready, tap “I accept” below to add the habit to your morning ritual. Remember that you can add this habit to any ritual, and we’ll count it towards achieving this challenge.
We wish you a productive week, Fabulous Traveler!
