Eat a Great Breakfast to Get the Fuel You Need!

I know you've heard it a hundred times, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day”, “Eat breakfast to feel a boost of energy that lasts the entire day!”
But let me tell you this:
If you don’t eat breakfast in the morning, you’ll feel excessive hunger later in the day that causes overeating that more than makes up for the calories skipped at breakfast.
So eat breakfast, Fabulous Traveler, you’ll become more energized and as an added bonus, you’ll lose those extra pounds you just couldn't shed.
But not all breakfasts are created equal.
Avoid the artificially colored, sugary, highly refined cereals at all costs! You will find them to be appealing and attractive because they’re promising you a lot of energy for the day, in addition to the cute cartoons jumping out just craving your attention.
If you’re having cereal or bread for breakfast, substitute the refined, processed option with the whole-grain option.
Quick Options for Breakfast
What’s the easiest, high quality breakfast protein that takes just minutes to cook? Eggs! Fry ‘em , scramble ‘em, in under five minutes!
Tired of eggs? Some other healthy protein-rich options:
- A large apple or banana with a spoonful of peanut butter
- A handful of almonds or walnuts
- A small carton of plain, low sugar yogurt
- Smoked salmon or turkey slice
Breakfast items to avoid
Doughnuts, waffles, pancakes, and sweet starches are "sugar crash" foods. They will cause your energy to spike and then deplete you, draining you of power and also making you hungry again within two hours, right about the time the office candy jar starts winking at you.
Keep this checklist in mind while shopping:
