The main point here is to let the thought run on your head and watch it, but don&#39;t continue the thought. It is like you have a horse and you want to tie it up, but it is restless, so what you have to do is let it roam around but you have a rope around the horse&#39;s neck. You slowly reduce the length of the rope and pull the horse towards you, this way the horse is brought into control. Meditation is very similar to this. When you let the thought run on your head, you are allowing it to settle down and the most important thing is not to continue the thought. This way your mind gets into control. Hope that helped. It\u2019s about noticing your thoughts and coming back to the present, however long you can stay there before the thoughts come back.  And you do it daily so that each time, you\u2019re present for a little bit longer than before, before the thoughts take over.  That\u2019s it.  It\u2019s about noticing, not controlling.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"single-answer\">\n<div class=\"who-answered\">Rick F.<\/div>\n<div class=\"detailed-answer\">I try to focus my gaze on something in the room I\u2019m meditating in to stay focussed. E.g. I focus on my lamp, or note pad. I also try to focus on what the instructor is saying is focus on the breath, literally putting all your focus to that statement. This is what helped me to bring my thoughts back and focus on my soft normal breathing.
